Scenario:
At trick 4, declarer is in dummy but plays the spade queen from hand.
Dummy warns: "You are on the table!"
You (the TD) are called at this stage. Defenders want you to clear the situation up. (Please refer to your law books and quote the relevant law)
Questions:
- Is dummy allowed to make that outburst?
- Can the defenders accept the card from the wrong hand?
- If yes to 2, then which defender? And if one defender accepts it but the other doesn't?
Answers:
- No, dummy may not speak. Dummy is allowed to prevent an infraction (Law 42B2). If declarer is in dummy but is fingering his cards, then, yes, dummy can remind him that he is dummy. But once declarer has called for a card it is too late for dummy to intervene [Law 43A1(b)];
- Yes (Law 55A)
- the law reads that either defender can accept the card from the wrong hand. If there is a dispute, then
the defender who is next to play after the irregular lead takes precedence (Law 55A)

LAW 55 - DECLARER’S LEAD OUT OF TURN
A. Declarer’s Lead Accepted
If declarer has led out of turn from his or dummy’s hand then either defender may accept the
lead as provided in Law 53 or require its retraction (after misinformation, see Law 47E1). If the
defenders choose differently then the option expressed by the player next in turn to the irregular
lead shall prevail.
